Internet Users Agreement
I recognize that the use of the Internet through the Burlington Public Library is a privilege. I agree to abide by the following rules regulating use of the Internet, and understand that failure to observe them or failure to observe other library policies may result in immediate suspension of my use of the library’s Internet workstations.
- I will not engage in any activity which:
• Damages or alters computer equipment, systems, or software, including downloading or installing any harmful programs defined as, but not limited to, spyware, viruses, Trojans, malware, or any other illegal utility on any computer.
• Seeks to gain unauthorized access to the resources of the library or Internet databases. • Violates, compromises, or destroys the integrity of any library computer based information.
• Compromises the privacy of any user. • Displays, prints, or sends any materials that are illegal, libelous, threatening or harassing.
• Is inappropriate for a public library setting, including visual depictions that are obscene, contain child pornography and are harmful to minors. - I agree to hold harmless the Burlington Public Library for any and all claims of any nature arising from my use or inability to use this service.
- Knowing that the Internet is currently an unregulated resource, I understand I use information obtained via this service at my own risk and that the library cannot be held responsible for the accuracy, validity or appropriateness of material obtained through the Internet.
- I will observe all copyright laws that might apply to files, software, or other resources on the Internet.
- I will observe posted rules governing the use of the library’s Internet hardware and software.
- I will take proper care of all equipment, and will report any problem with the hardware or software immediately to library staff.
