Hello Everyone!

There are a few events happening this week that we’d like to bring to your attention: Senior Day in the Park and the B-E Back to School Fair. Both of these are long-standing Burlington events that volunteers have been putting on for MANY years. To some folks in the community, they are familiar events. To more recent Burlington residents, they are completely brand new! Both events focus on serving the community. So, if you know about these events, please share the info with a friend or family member.

Happening this Thursday, August 18 from 10am to 1:30pm is Senior Day in the Park. The Burlington Senior Center, along with the Senior Day in the Park Committee, will be hosting their 14th Annual Event. This event is at Maiben Park in Burlington, right next the Senior/Community Center. This information fair is FREE to the public, and designed to educate senior citizens on healthy lifestyles and resources available to them in our community. If you know of an elderly parent, friend or neighbor who could use help getting connected to the community, this would be a fantastic event for them to attend!

Just after that, on Saturday August 20 from 10am to 1pm, is the B-E Back to School Fair. The B-E Education Coalition for Kids (BECK) and Burlington Edison School District (B-ESD) are partnering once again to host Burlington’s 18th Annual Back to School Fair. This is a FREE community event held at Maiben Park from 10am to 1pm. The Back to School Fair provides services to Burlington families in preparation for the upcoming school year (oh yes… fall is upon us!). There will be free school supplies, haircuts for kids, vendor booths, and a variety of kid-friendly activities at the park.

We hope that folks in Burlington take advantage of these neat resources that are offered for FREE to the community this coming week. Mark your calendars and we’ll see you there!
