The Difference: Being Happy vs. Having Fun
In a recent podcast I listened to, they were discussing the difference between being “happy” and having “fun”. It really made me stop and think…when was the last time I had some good old-fashioned fun? When is the last time you had fun? When is the last time you actually played with others, just letting things happen with no real plan? Couldn’t we all use a little more fun nowadays? If you think you’ve forgotten the path to fun and joy, try combining these three factors: playfulness, connections, and flow. When you put these three pieces together, you're sure to create FUN and feelings of JOY! Who doesn't want more of that?! Here at Burlington Parks and Rec, our hope is that as 2022 develops, we can help you re-connect, play, have fun and find some joy! Maybe you'll tap into fun by visiting a local Burlington park or participate in a recreation program this season. Maybe you'll attend a community event or concert, or enjoy an upcoming festival with friends. However it works for you, just let it flow!
Our online catalog for program registration for Spring/Summer 2022 opens tomorrow on Wednesday, March 23! Although we aren’t back to printing our Recreation Guide yet, our Facebook Page and Online Catalog will list upcoming programs, events and activities. You will notice some familiar titles of programs, camps and festivals; plus new ones that are being added as they develop. B-E Youth Soccer registration for Fall 2022 begins in just one month on May 1. Our community favorite All Comer Track Meets and KidQuest Camps are still on hiatus, but as soon as we can bring them back safely and successfully, we will (We miss them, too!).
To sum things up, it feels good to get back into the swing of things. We have recently filled our staff vacancies within the Parks and Recreation Department and are now fully staffed. After being without support staff for much of the past year, the gears are now churning and the creative juices are flowing. We've added three new part-time staffers to the department, so come on over to the office to say "Hi!" to our new staff: Julie in Customer Service, Kati in Marketing and Customer Service and JP our new Recreation Specialist. While you’re here, pick up your FREE sticker for your favorite water bottle!
The synergy in the office is electric and it’s going to spill over into our community as we bring playfulness, connections, and flow opportunities to you throughout 2022!
Wishing you all well!
