For more than 75 years, Bloodworks Northwest has been a local, volunteer-supported, community-based blood center. In fact, they are the sole provider of blood for over 95% of hospitals in Washington and Oregon. The City of Burlington is partnering with Bloodworks Northwest this month to encourage community members to donate blood in Skagit County. A note regarding our current blood supply:
"Our local blood supply has hit emergency levels. We are asking everyone who is feeling healthy to please schedule a donation in the weeks ahead... As a community, let's make sure we are stepping up and contributing to what we do have control over by making an appointment to donate." - BloodworksNW
At the end of March, there will be a blood drive here in Burlington at North Cascade Seventh-Day Adventist Church. This will be one of many donation sites that are being offered in the area during the weeks ahead.
How to get involved:
Step 1: Schedule an appointment to donate blood at any BlookworksNW location.
Step 2: On the day of your donation, when asked "What Brought You In Today?" mention City of Burlington or our three-digit code "COB" when you check in with the registrar.
Step 3: Sit back, relax, and take pride in contributing to our local blood supply.
