Records Unit
Responsibilities
The Records Unit is under the supervision of the administrative secretary. Records personnel:
  • Process and retain police records pursuant to Washington state retention schedules
  • Distribute police reports allowed by law
  • Prepare and disseminate public records requests
  • Conduct background investigation checks for concealed pistol permits and firearm transfers
  • Assist with customer service requests

Records Requests
The Burlington Police Department provides non-exempt police records to the public as defined in Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 42.56. Records requests can be made by completing a City of Burlington Request for Public Records Form and submitting it to the Burlington Police Department. Forms are also available at the Burlington Police Department during business hours.
