Engineering
Responsibilities
The Engineering Department provides technical support for the other departments and provides assistance with private project developments and city-financed projects. The department reviews all the site plans for development in Burlington, including parking lot areas, streets, and utility improvements.

The department is also responsible for capital facilities projects including streets, sewers, pump stations, sidewalks, and traffic signals. The department has three state-licensed professional engineers on staff.

The Engineering Department also keeps all of the engineering records for the city, which include drawings of the different subdivisions, commercial entities, and street and sewer projects.
