UPDATED: City of Burlington adapts for COVID-19

The City of Burlington has adjusted City services for COVID-19 measures in accordance with recommendations from federal, state and local agencies.

Affiliated City offices remain closed or are offering select or modified until further notice except for select and modified services. To access a limited-operations staff directory, view the link below.

• Building is closed to the public, but clerks are available to respond to phone call and emails. Concealed Pistol Licenses are available by appointment.
• In an emergency, always call 911. Burlington Patrol remains staffed and available 24/7.

• Building is closed to all non-emergency business activities and station tours. Phone calls will be answered Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and in off-hours only when duty crew is in quarters/available. All voicemails will receive response within 24 hours.

Community Development (Planning, Building, Fire Marshal)
• Permits being accepted/issued by email and appointment only.

Parks & Recreation 360-755-9649
• City parks, trails and play spaces are open and accessible. Please observe social distancing along with CDC and Skagit County Public Health recommendations when using them.
• Reservations for the city's playfields are being accepted. However, reservations for covered shelters and indoor rental facilities are not being accepted at this time. 
• Modified recreation programs return to Burlington beginning June 2021. Registration opens May 5, 2021 via the online catalog.

• The Parks and Recreation office remains closed to in-person visits. Staff is available to help by phone or email.

Library
• Closed to the public until further notice. However, Express Holds Pickup is up and running Monday through Friday and the book drops are open.
• Public Wi-Fi is available 24/7 and will not be password protected. Wi-Fi users can pull up in front or side of the building and remain in their car to access public library Wi-Fi.
• Additional Wi-Fi locations available outside the following city buildings: City Hall, Parks & Recreation, Public Safety, Visitor Information Center, as well as accessible along Burlington Boulevard. Please remain in your car while accessing free Burlington Wi-Fi.
• While the library is closed, online resources are available—including eBooks, eAudiobooks, links to online learning, a new resource page for children and their caregivers, and links to resources for local businesses and anyone who is newly unemployed. Anyone in the community can sign up online for a digital library card to access all these online resources.
• Sign up online for a full-service library card, including the new B-E Student card which is free for students in the B-E school district who live outside the city limits of Burlington.

RECREATION PROGRAMS IN BURLINGTON RESUME JUNE 2021
The city’s recreation division returned to work in March and looks forward to presenting programs adapted to our current state guidelines. Some of our beloved programs will not happen this year, while others will be added in or modified for participation.

FALL YOUTH SOCCER
-Yes, Burlington-Edison Youth Soccer is scheduled for Fall 2021; registration and program timing will be similar to years’ past. Divisions serve children age 5 to 14. --
-Registration opens first week of May.

BURLINGTON PLAYFIELD & FACILITY RENTALS
-Athletic field rentals are available to organized use (with limitations), beginning March 2021.
-League sports are resuming, including baseball, softball, football, soccer and lacrosse. Catch a game at Skagit River Park or Rotary Park, weekends and some week nights.
-The city is not accepting tournament applications or special event applications until State guidance offers more certainty about a potential timeline for the return of these event types.
-Indoor facility rentals are not currently available.
-Picnic shelters are available for use, while shelter rental reservations are not currently an option.

The City of Burlington announces cancellation of their spring and summer 2020 Burlington Recreation events and programs. Tournaments, facility rentals and playfield rentals are also impacted.
