BPL Teen Summer Challenge
Teen Summer Bingo
Discover new books and maybe even a new hobby by playing Teen Summer Bingo! Each row you complete is an entry into the Grand Prize Raffle for a Kindle Fire tablet. You can choose to do as much or as little as you like - maybe just one Bingo, or maybe a blackout! When finished, put your sheet into the library book drop or turn it in at the checkout desk. If you can't make it to the library, access the Bingo game from home and when completed, email it to Teen Librarian Jenny at firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries are due by 8/31/21.
Book suggestions for the Bingo game:
- Colorful Covers
- Diverse Lives of Teens
- Cool Hobbies and Careers
- Awesome Audiobooks
- Free digital audiobooks (for you to keep!) are also available in the SORA app all summer long. Two new teen books are revealed every Thursday for downloading and the best thing is - once you download them they're yours to keep forever! You don't even need a library card to get them. Find instructions here.
Teen Lit Kits
Who doesn't love books AND free stuff? Every month a new Teen Lit Kit will feature a bookish theme and include a book, activities, snacks, and other goodies - all for you to keep!
Kits will be available on the 2nd Monday of the month, and are first-come, first-served. Here's a sneak peek of the summer themes:
- Mystery Kits - Unveiled June 14th
- Realistic Fiction Kits - Unveiled July 9th
- Dystopian Fiction Kits - Unveiled August 9th
Bonus Monthly Raffles
You should have gotten a sheet of raffle tickets when you picked up your Teen Summer Challenge brochure. Turn in one ticket each month for an entry into a gift card raffle! Gift cards will be from local coffee shops and grocery stores. Tickets can be turned into the book drop by the library entrance or at the checkout desk. You can also access the raffle tickets from home and email them to Jenny if you can't make it to the library.
Teen Art Wall
Things are looking kinda stale around the Teen space since the building was closed for over a year. We want to spruce up the area with your art! Submit original artwork like drawings, paintings, digital art, photos, etc. to be displayed in the Teen space. Drop them off for Jenny at the library's checkout desk, or email Jenny any digital copies. Please remember that art must be appropriate for all ages - don't submit anything you wouldn't want your little siblings or grandparents to see!
Teen Volunteer Squad
There are so many ways for teens to shape our community for the better. Consider joining the Teen Volunteer Squad where you can make your voice heard. Write blog posts and book reviews, make Spotify playlists, or even start a teen club - or propose a project we haven't even thought of yet! Work created by the Volunteer Squad is also featured on our Teen Voices page - check it out to see what Burlington teens are up to!
Teen Anime Club
Because our love for anime doesn't stop over the summer, Anime Club will be meeting over Zoom on the first and third* Wednesday from 3-4pm. Learn more and sign up on the Teen Events page. Open to ages 12-18.
*Anime Club will be meeting on the fourth Wednesday in June (6/23) instead of the third Wednesday.
