Twelve to Try

Twelve to Try

Twelve to Try is a year-long reading challenge that asks you to read a book in each of 12 categories, keep track of your reading, and share your favorites with the library and your fellow readers. You also have the opportunity to broaden your reading horizons and maybe even win a prize!

Love a book you read? Hate it? Share your opinion and write a book review using only 5 words. Submit a review online or pick up a review form at the library.

Twelve to Try FAQs

What are the 2019 categories?

Who can enter Twelve to Try?

Independent readers of all ages! We'll have recommendations for kids, teens, and adults.

How do I enter Twelve to Try?

You can pick up a tracker at the library to track your reading. When you finish each category, bring your tracker in to get a sticker. When you finish a title in every category, bring the completed tracker to the library any time after March 15 to be entered into the prize drawing.

Is there a prize for completing Twelve to Try?

Yes! We are offering a finisher button to everyone who completes the challenge - just bring your completed tracker to the library anytime after March 15. You will also get your picture taken for the Finisher's Wall. Additionally, we will have quarterly prize drawings (March, June, September, December) so you will have 4 chances to win! You will receive one entry for every 3 books you complete, in addition to 1 when you complete the challenge, giving you a chance to earn at least 4 entries.

Can I finish Twelve to Try more than once?

No, once you've completed all the challenge categories and earned a button and drawing entries you are done for the year. If you want to read through the categories again just for fun, however, you are welcome to do so!
